Trying to install 8.10 on my laptop. I want to install on sda8, select that, tell it to format as ext3, it says that it will use sda5 (which is a swap file for two other systems) as swap. Starts the install, formats sda8 then says it can't format sda5 as swap. Choices are 'go back' or 'continue' either choice takes me back to the partitioner.
Any ideas?

be sure the format check box, if there is one (I do not recall), is not checked for the swap partition. It is probably not only already formated as swap, but currently in use by the install CD so that it could not be formatted.

It's not checked.
