Hey all,

For a school project i wanted to make basically a really lightweight tablet pc, running ubuntu, very portable, with basically a browser and a few other apps.

Only problem is, i dont really want to spend to much, and it seems that the tablet screen will be quite expensive. Does anyone have any reccomendations about this? I basically need a screen with no other hardware, like a small monitor, with no pc....Preferably small, say 10-15 inch...under US$150 if possible.

You'd probably have to go to the manufacturers of the screens, and I doubt they would send less than orders of 100.

Of course, you could cheat; if you know the row and column of a touch, you can figure this into coordinates on the screen. I would suggest an array of infra-red diodes around the top and left sides and then another array of receiving IR photodiodes. Trouble is, any battery will have some trouble, and you've got limited resolution, unless you can include analog signals somehow, which just makes it even more complicated.

hmm...i wont be able to do anything too complex. Also, power isnt really an issue; its for an assignment, so its a protoype, which can have a few issues like that.

I spose i can always buy a more expensive screen...so long as i can plug it into a mb and use it like a normal monitor...

Isnt that just a film which makes an LCD screen touch sensitive .. u dont get an LCD screen with it .. I think tht product is similar to:

Good luck with your project !
