The new i7 Processor released by Intel is set to be the next big thing in CPU Technology. So what do you think? Here are some good links:

I'll actually turn my desktop on again just to try it out. I haven't used my desktop in over a year.

Ay ay ay, I got reading about processors from the x86 family on Wikipedia, and remember thinking about a home-grown system someone gifted me a few years back: all of 20MHz clock speed for the 80286, and on a good day, somewhere around 25-27MHz. It's predecessor was a 10MHz machine (also 80286) that had a network card with a Z80 chip on it.

Memories! Sigh......

It is a step up, that is for sure. Overclocks like a beast. I'll probably skip this generation though, software needs to pick it up and my 3.6 quad can hold on much longer.

I am sticking with AMD on this. Intel is just now switching to Memory die in the CPU Like amd Has been since Athlon x2s in 05 i think.

Everything I've read about them was good.

They perform much better than the high end quad core, and are cheaper than those.

It's a no brainer.

Are these cpu's already supported by Ubuntu 8.10?

I would not be surprised it was, I heard that the i7 will be the first true 64bit processor from intel so will probably work well with Ubuntu 64 bit
