Apologies for the stupidity of this post but I'm a real newbie.

I would like to attach a USB drive to my PC and run simple apps from that disk. However, the only apps I've used in Linux so far have been installed through a package manager.

Can I just install the app to the peripheral drive and run it from there? Like you would with an 'exe' file in windows.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Cheers
Pete

yeah you could if you compiled it to the hard drive, but it's harder than it would be with an exe file, you won't be able to do it through the package manager though
