I've just wrote a fairly long Absolute beginners guide to Ubuntu.

http://linuxowns.wordpress.com/2008/11/11/ubuntu-the-absolute-beginners-guide/

The guide is targeted towards people TOTALLY new to Ubuntu that don't have an idea on how to get started.

Can I have some tips from new users or veterans to make it more accessible to newcomers.

I'm not a native English speaker, so suggestions to make the text more readable are welcomed also.

This is a good guide. I am new to Ubuntu - only using it for about a week now. It's a good start; informative. :)

Maybe add some text to the images. For instance, at the last expo image: "Expo plugin with 6 (or: 2 vertical and 3 horizontal) workspaces enabled."

Oh, sure that can be done.

I've used your blog from time to time Bill. I like the nice clean, clear layout and simple instructions. It's much appreciated. \\:D/

My only suggest would be to use screenshots showing the default desktop etc, not 'an almost default desktop'. I think that way it would be slightly more friendly to the newbie!
