X3 Reunion is Gold (http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Njg0NA)!

I'm just opening this thread to make sure somebody is going to review it for Full Circle. It's at the moment the best commercial game for Linux and deserves some publicity, especially since LGP (and Egosoft) have been loyal by offering X2 fans (also ported by LGP) the sequel also on Linux - and good sales would only encourage more commercial games to be ported on Linux (and give LGP more capital to found the ports). Even on Windows the game is a customer friendly game, with interesting updates adding new content for years.

I know somebody is going to ask "then why don't you review it", but I won't be able to even start playing the game before 1 or 2 month (even though I'll order it before) . When I'll get the time, however, I'd like to write a tutorial, a step-by-step guide for newbies so they can get into this complex game easily, but I'll have to play the game for a while before I can do that (and I've got other Ubuntu-related projects which are going to keep me busy for 1 month at least).

However, a joint effort is possible if you're going to play the game but don't feel writing the review alone.

Well, basically its kind of space trading and combat game
Quite similar to Freelancer imo.

It's an empire building space simulation. It's a mix between Elite and something indescriptible ;)

You can trade, build factories (+mining) in space, manage a fleet of as many ships as you can afford, accept and fulfil missions. There's also a story you can choose to get into, but you can just omit it entirely and play freely. You can take sides in conflicts opposing 7 (as far as I understand) races, even though the shooting isn't developped - it's far ahead of what was in Elite, but it's not the main purpose of the game. Actually from what other gamers have been saying, since you can control multiple ships the combat might be a mix of shoot and strategy.

The economy is realistic, whatever you trade or build has an impact on the game's economy, prices, shortages, etc... I think you also compete with NPC, if you've got too profitable a run somebody's going to try to get into it and cut your profit.

Freelancer was more a space shooter, the economy/trading aspect was almost inexistant, and outside of the story there wasn't anything to do. It was hyped, but not even comparable with Elite, whereas X2 and X3 have been there long enough to know there's a very deep game inside (not including the many mods, which are said to work on Linux also, but somebody who has been on the beta can tell you more about it).
