I just upgraded to 8.10, I have both Kubuntu desktop and Ubuntu desktop in stalled. I upgraded in Kubuntu and had the black screen. I uninstalled KDM and reinstalled then booted in safemode and fixed x and it came up.

But I was not able to properly configure dual monitors with the Kubuntu setup utility. So I logged into Gnome and was able to setup dual monitors (one screen spread between two monitors, laptop to the right of monitor) and it works perfectly. I then logged out of Gnome and tried to log into KDE4 and the screens go white first then they go black.

I prefer KDE and like the new look and feel of KDE4. I would like to use it, but for now I have work to do and will use Gnome.

Hopefully someone has a fix :)
