I can find no way to associate mousebuttons(on the desktop) with a menu.

Both KDE4.1 and GNOME let me set just about everything, all x-thousend combinations of alt-meta-super-shift keys can be programmed to do just about everything.

But the 3 buttons I can press (and remember!) most easily can not be programmed?

KDE3.5 used to be able to do this. Has the capability been removed?

I just installed KDE4.2 on my Ubuntu8.10 installation.

While KDE4.2 is nearly perfect, I still miss the possibility to configure mouse-actions on the desktop. I want to associate left and right mouse buttons with custom menus, like I was able to do in KDE3.5.

In KDE4+ this functionality has silently disappeared.

I can set-up any key-combination to do just about anything, but I can't set-up the three buttons that are easiest to access to do something sensible???
