Hey everyone, I updated my Kubuntu install to 4.1.3 by enabling "unsupported updates." Do I need to leave unsupported updates enabled in order to continue to receive updates to 4.1.3, or can I go ahead and disable that option in the sources and the updates will come via the main repo's? If i do need to leave it on, is there a certain time and or release that you would recommend that it would be turned off?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If you want to upgrade the ubuntu distribution (i.e. 8.04 to 8.10, 8.10 to 9.04, etc.), you must turn "unsupported updates" on, otherwise you may encounter problems.

One conclusion: you need to turn it off *only* if you purchased commercial support from Canonial, otherwise, it is much better to leave it on because it contains many *valuable* updates.

Thank you for the quick response =). Will I ever run into stability issues by using the unsupported updates? In all the time Ive spent with Linux I have never used the unsupported repo's.
