Can I use ALSA to grab information about audio my computer is playing?
like frequency, pitch, and things like that?
I want to have a go at making a virtual oscilloscope.
Or is there a different API that would better suite my needs?
To me it doesn't seem as though JACK or OpenAL can do such things.
