Hi Guys

I recently installed the Ubuntu 8.10 OS, but it came with OpenOffice 2.4 !!

Can someone please tell me how:

1) I can Uninstall the 2.4 version

2) How I can Install the new 3.0 Version

Any help would be Greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thank You Very Very Much Guys :)

babloo I found that 2nd link much more useful :) The first link assumes you know how to add a repository in software sources, which I don't since I'm a n00b :)

But that 2nd link tells it you all, so it was awesome :)

Thank You again to both of you, I learned something new today :D

I am having problems upgrading to open office 3.0.
Having followed the second instructions I get an error saying unable to update as I di not have an Ubuntu Desktop.
I am running GOS 3.0.
How do I update using this o/s which I thought ran on Ubuntu 8.4 anyway...
Thanks
Garry

I tried both of these methods and hav made sure 2.41 was uninstalled, on a 64 bit 8.10 inastall, and all I keep getting is OpenOffice 2.41 reinstalled, even though I saw 3.0 download once I added the correct repository.

Is 3.0 only in 32 bit mode?

Edit:

Found the 64 bit version and got it installed using 1/0 instructions in this thread:

You bought your computer from Wallmart?

Anyway, gOS is not Ubuntu. I like how gOS looks :)

Anyway, gOS uses deb as Debian and Ubuntu so go to OpenOffice.org download site, and then click on "Get more platforms and language (http://download.openoffice.org/other.html)s"

Here is a direct link:

http://download.openoffice.org/other.html

Now download a Linux deb file from there.
After you are done downloading, just double click the deb file, and it should install automatically.
