I'm looking for a new printer. I currently have a HP PSC 1317 all-in-one, but it's quite old and I think it's finally dead. So, does anyone have any suggestions? I'd prefer a cheap-ish printer, as I don't have a lot of spare money to spend on a new one.

I'd second gn2. I've had no problem with relatively cheap HP's. I bought two similar to what gn2 linked too, and they were recognized instantly in Ubuntu 8.04, everything works. Print/Scan etc.

I'd go with HP.

HP's good. If you had more money to spend I would recommend a laser printer. Although they are more expensive at first, paying for cartriges/toner is a lot cheaper with laser printers in the long run...

I'll also say HP.

I have an HP OfficeJet 7310 All-in-One. It's great :)

Ok I like HP printers, my current one has lasted for years. I'll see if my mum can get one cheaper - she works at an office supplies company. Then again, offices mainly deal with laser printers so I might have to go to PC world one day.

I have an HP Deskjet 3740, and it's quite nice; it was easy to setup on Arch, but on my sister's Ubuntu computer all I had to do was plug it in.
