Hi

Yesterday I installed the latest Java6-update 10 on a laptop using:

sudo apt-get install sun-java6-bin sun-java6-jre sun-java6-jdk

Today I installed Ubuntu on another laptop and typed the same command and get the error message:

"Couldn't find package sun-java6-bin"

I've checked that the package name is still the same on Ubuntu's package list.

This is a complete mystery to me.

Has anyone else experienced the same problem?

Cheers

Graham

Do you have the 'medibuntu' repository enabled on the new laptop?

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

After being online, the update manager brought the laptop up to date.

I then re-tried the java6 install and now it works!!

Thanks

Graham
