The kernel update "linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-21-generic" fails repeatedly from Adept Updater, giving the fllowing error message:

There was an error commiting changes. Possibly there was a problem
downloading some packages or the commit would break packages.

From terminal, either sudo apt-get upgrade sudo apt-get -f upgrade yields:

Apparently unable to upgrade the distro to Intrepid until this is resolved, but have no idea what I might need to do to fix this.

Searching the forums here, looks like the 2.6.24-21 kernel upgrade is fairly iffy itself, though obviously many have been able to apply it, and it has been appearing in adept notifier for well over a week now.

Pointers please. Thanks!

Deleted the file from /var/cache/apt/archives per this thread, which got the updates to install. Per this thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=728914&highlight=broken+pipe&page=2

Don't seem to be able to apply a distro upgrade now though, maybe after a reboot.
