I installed ubuntu 8.10 onto my memory stick in persistent mode from the guide at:

using the non-automatic approach. The install worked fine, but when I boot from it it's really slow and doesn't seem to be using much of the CPU and/or the RAM. should I make a Linux-SWAP partition on my USB?
