1) Read this tutorial (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/IntrepidUpgrades) on upgrading.

2) Back up your data. No 100% guarantees that all will go well.

3) You don't have to repartition, but you will need to delete the current partition where Hardy is, and then install Ibex on it.

Thanks. But, I have already read that tutorial and I need some more help. I can't do the recomended method, because I can't connect to the internet in hardy. In fact, I can't even log on in hardy because of
this (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=912978&highlight=login+screen+rejection). Therefor I am forced into useing the alternate CD or compleatly removeing Ubuntu hardy and on 8.10. If I try the alt CD method, I just wants to install 8.10 not update it. And I don't know when to press ALT+F2 like it says to in the tutorial. It also want to partition the disk again... As for uninstalling, I would like to try to get it upgraded instade.

So did you follow 'Upgrading Using the Alternate CD/DVD' which is located in that tutorial?

I tried to as best as I could. I first downloaded the alt CD. Then burned it. As I restarted my comp with it, it never offered to upgrade to 8.10. And I didn't know when to press ALT+F2. It just wanted to partition my disk again.

I forgot to say that I downloaded it from here (http://ubuntu.cs.utah.edu/releases/intrepid/). Under alternate install CDs(3rd one). I then selected the first of the two downloads.
