i just..can't get my drivers to work.
i've tried Envy, direct from nvidia and whatever synaptic has to offer.
as well, gone through many threads on here already...
i've read 8.10 isn't nvidia friendly so i havn't downloaded it.
anyway,
it's an XFX 6600GT AGP.
it WAS running 169's from Envy i think earlyer this week, however...it booted up tonight with 'low resolution' @ 800x600. did i do something wrong..wouldn't doubt it at all :(
native is 1440x900.
i've somehow managed to get 1280x1024 - installed nvidia's 173's, black screen happened at bootup, 'fixed x' in recovery, and as stated before..1280x1024 appeared.
nvidia x does not run and says to run nvidia-xconfig, i do and output doesn't seem to be friendly. i restart and back to low reso.
any suggestions would be great.
