Hey All,

I purchased a Dell Power Edge 1550 from Ebay a few weeks ago and decided to toss it up.

I didn't have any SCSI hard drives around so I ordered one and then attempted to install Ubuntu.

I kept receiving the error "No boot device available" and my efforts to install Ubuntu through a network through a floppy failed miserably so I ordered another CD-ROM Drive just incase the existing one was broken.

Well, I installed the new one and same error

"No boot device available"

I toyed around with all the boot sequencing and whatever else I could in the very limited BIOS it has.

Any suggestions?

We are also unable to boot on HP Proliant DL380 or Gateway. We have only been successful at upgrading 8.10 from an 8.04 install. Fresh install for 3 different servers that we have Ubuntu 8.10 could not find a boot drive. Had to end up installing 8.04

Well I can run older CD's on it now I guess, like Windows XP Pro and such but those all freeze during installation so not much help
