Buffer I/0 error, dev sro logical block 341177

I try to install Ubuntu from CD and after the orange loading bar finishes, I get Buffer I/0 error, dev sro logical block 341177 persistently after many reboots/retries - any fixes???

If you burned the cd from an iso, did you burn it at the slowest speed your drive is capable of? If you've already done this, you might try the alternate install cd...I've had a similar problem with the desktop cd that you're having, but the alternate install cd worked.
