Hi there!

I've installed Ubuntu in all my family computers (my girlfriend is loving it!) but I'm struggling to install it in my laptop... The machine in question is an ASUS A6G with an extra 512MB of RAM from the factory default. It happens with Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10.

After the kernel boots in the installation phase, I get a screen with rubbish lines. The mouse cursor moves but everything is frozen. The laptop fan eventually slows down, which means that nothing is actually happening...

Sometimes I manage to get to the language choosing screen, but as soon as I press to continue, it freezes with the same symptoms (but no rubbish lines on the screen).

I tried to boot with all the usual parameters (noapic, nolapic, noacpi) with no luck. I can't even switch to a text console (CTRL+ALT+1...) to check for error messages.

Can anyone please help me to sort this out? Thank a lot in advance,

AP
