6.10->8.10?

Hi all. I have recently brought out of retirement a not-so-old PC that had Ubuntu 6.10 on it. I'd like to upgrade to 8.10; but I am offered to upgrade to 7.04 only, and some files for that apparently cannot be found in the standard repository (see below).

I am loath to do a clean install - I'd have to burn a new CD on another machine to which I have no ready access. I'd much rather upgrade from the net: I am willing to go 7.04->7.10-8.04->8.10 if necessary. But I just can't seem to manage the first step. Any suggestions?

Hi and you may be forced to do a clean install as the errors are from I believe because Feisty and Edgy both have reached the End Of support.

You can install via a USB stick using the UNetbootin program.
