Have a newer Dell desktop w onboard Intel graphics. Tried Wubi, no boot. Tried Live CD, and even booting with SAFE GRAPHICS, after the startup progress bar, screen is blank, no keyboard, no mouse. I can hit ctrl-alt-f2 to bring up a TTY, but can't get to the desktop. Pretty sure it's a video driver problem, but how can I solve this using only the Live CD? Kind of a newbie as well. I won't be able to cut/paste commands, for example.

Or do I just wait for 9.04 :)?

How can I get the Live CD up to check out if this will all work?

Found an error message in the Xorg log file, along the lines of:

ERROR SETTING MTRR xxxxxx

I tried safe graphics. I tried CTRL ALT BACKSPACE. I tried stopping GDM and altering the driver to VESA in xorg.conf.

Cannot get a desktop no matter what!

Is there no help available for this?
