just a warning, i am a 100% noob to linux, but wanting to learn. I followed the instructions on this site : http://www.array.org/ubuntu/setup-intrepid.html

because I have intrepid not hardy, i believe.

And after trying to install the kernel with this code : sudo apt-get install linux-eeepc

it responds with E: malformed line 55 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse)
E: The list of sources could not be read

Any help here would be great guys. When i browse to that path i see no file in there, should there be one? What's the deal, thanks guys.

open a terminal and type:

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

then paste this into it (overwrite the contents of the file if there's anything in it already)

ok so now I got to the step that says

Install the EeePC kernel.
sudo apt-get install linux-eeepc

and then reboot and get the boot option screen and choose the new choice. When i get to the boot option screen it isnt in the boot options.

Reason for this?

Thanks so much for your help man.

It's not in the boot options at all? Even further down the list?
