Hello all,

I've been running Ubuntu 8.04 for a few months on dual boot with XP and now ready to run just Ubuntu. I have XP as default when starting up the system. Anyone has a helpful link or could post step by step instructions to make this transition easy. One thing I'm concerned about is transferring important documents and music files which I'll have backed up on an external hard drive. When running Ubuntu everything works fine except for it's a little slow when booting and I get screen flickering when returning from suspend mode, but I feel I can solve those in the near future. Any help would be great

Thanks
Lance

My suggestions...

Make sure your stuff is backed up on your external, then check again.

Do a clean install of Ubuntu.

If you find you're still freaked out by not having access to Windows, and you just can't stand it, install Virtual Box and run XP (or whatever) in a virtual machine until you calm down. Once rationality returns you can just delete the VM with a couple clicks of your mouse.

Really, it's easier than you think to let go...

And being Microsoft-free has feel-good vibe all its own.
