installing Kubuntu over Ubuntu from CD

hello, I am wondering if it is possible to install kubuntu-desktop over an already installed Ubuntu from a Kubuntu CD, so I could choose Gnome or KDE at log in, but without having to do the large download ( I already have the CD).

If you just want the KDE desktop, at your Ubuntu console enter
sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop

Then you choose "KDE" on the little menu that is on the login splash, when you log in.

You can do it if you have the Kubuntu Alternate CD

You cannot do it if you have only the Kubuntu Desktop CD

Otherwise, you do have to do the huge download over the internet.
