I have been using 'apt-get' to install the softwares ever since the

first time I installed ubuntu successfully.

Recently I have learn the 'aptitude' method to install softwares.

Somebody said that the 'aptitude' can remove the software completely

when I don't need it.

However there is a complete removal for the software installed in the

Synaptic Package Manager.

So I just curious about the difference between them, or just the same?

Thanks in advance.

Prior to ubuntu 6.10 apt-get would not remove the dependencies when removing a package, since 6.10 apt-get now can remove them.
So prior to 6.10 aptitude did a better job of removing packages.
http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/aptitude
Now I think its just a personal choice.

Thanks a lot .

Now I can use the 'apt-get' to replace 'aptitude'at ease.
