Dennis McMillan

I have TWO 1 TB Seagate Drives set as RAID stripe, Main C drive WinXP32bit.

WHY! is there NO way directly from the CDs INSTALL to go into a RAID setup and put "ubuntu" in a RAID partition??? Then I might get it to work,Maybe!

I have another drive 300 gig that is NOT raid with another copy of WinXP 32 ...this will be the Secondry copy! once I shoehorn a copy of XP 64bit and then overlay VISTA 64bit..
NOW! another drive 80 gig with Linux on it! got a drive all by itself!

EVERY time I install LINUX..I get a GRUB 17 error when I start!

Here is the DOC stuff: figure it out,I,m still a begineer at this!

when i did the switch cyl bit all that happened was I got a NEW error 21!

Thanks anyway! I need a expert here to go over those doc,s I posted!

My MB is a weird one! It has 2 IDE controllers ONboard,

1 is a NVIDIA IDE/Raid setup which I,m using ,I'd like to put it in a partition there,BUT there is NO direct RAID link from Linux..If I knew I prob would not have a problem.

Um, great rant!

However, grub has nothing to do with 64-bit Linux, and nothing special to do with *buntu. And even if it did, this is a user forum, not the Grub Developer Forum, so there's little point in yelling at 64-bit *buntu users.

Your ire would be better directed here (http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/).

And if you want to learn a lot more about grub, here's (http://users.bigpond.net.au/hermanzone/p15.htm) a great resource. :)

The problem is not the 64bit side ,BUT working with a RAID setup

I have TWO 1 TB drives setup in RAID
I have winXP32bit on a 300 gig drive No raid and UBUNTU 64bit on a 80 gig drive!

If I leave the VISTA DVD in the drive it works Raid fine,if I leave it out I get a GRUB error 17 instead!

Cannot wait for GRUB II to be debuged and WORKING,then it might work with Raid, as it is now it will not see raid at all,and no way to INSTALL it on a RAID partion directly from the DVD!
