Just finished upgrading to Ubuntu 8.10from Ubuntu 8.04, and everything seems perfect. The upgrade was smooth, however, I am now unable to find my home folder page??
I click on 'places', then 'home', and I am greeted by 'totem movie player'??? Which I can not get out of. I have to do a 'force quit' to exit the thing.
Any ideas anyone, please??
Thanks, Len Tyree.

Thanks frankleee; that gave me a lookalike window of my home page, but wasn't the same??
Maybe I should use synaptic package manager and delete the 'totem' routine, then add it back in later??

Get into a Nautilus window.
Right click a Folder.
Do Properties.
Open With tab.
Select the Open Folder application.
Delete Totem if it is in that list.

thanks yashiro. tried that but could not get a good hold on a window that would allow me to enter properties....

PROBLEM SOLVED, partially???

removed totem from the system entirely, rebooted, clicked on home and it came up as it was supposed to...problem with totem???

so played with the system, reloaded totem and its playlist back into system, rebooted, no home...

did this several times with different components of totem, and none would allow me to get back to the home screen...

therefore, disabled totem in its entirity, rebooted, got home back...

NOW WHO DO I REPORT THIS TO??? there is a problem with totem, but is it only with me?? remember, this is from a on-line update from ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10, with nothing else thrown in.

thanks all, for all the help. i am now without totem, but i do not use it that much anyway.
