View Full Version : [ubuntu] What USB wireless will work with 8.10?

Hi -
I just built a Ubuntu 8.10 computer for my daughter.
We have a D-Link Wireless N DIR-655 router.
She must connect using wireless - too far and inconvenient to run cabling upstairs!

Would like to use an N - USB adapter. G would be OK but N better.

Tried using the one I have on my laptop... gaaah. Frankly, not enjoying the effort - too busy and I just want something that works!

I checked the wiki of supported cards and found that search frustrating, too - as it's all arranged by maker/model - that's the part of the equation I don't have!

Any suggestions for the most trouble free adapter to buy? Or can you point me to an information source that is arranged opposite of the wiki (ubuntu version - then what works)

Thanks much.

I bought a D-Link WUA-1340 acouple of weeks ago and just plugged it in today, and it just plain worked. I have had good luck with all the D-link network devices I have bought.
