My 8.04 Live CD used to let me slide an orange bar which would resize my main partition to give Ubuntu space for installation. I would give XP a 180GB chunk of space and give Ubuntu 50GB by just dragging the slider.

Where did it go?

And if that doesnt work how can I resize my vista partition manually to give ubuntu space?

NOTE: CD-RW DRIVE ISNT WORKING. I CANT USE PARTED MAGIC, ECT.

Thanks in advance! :)

I'm not sure why the slider doesn't work--are you sure you're clicking in the right spot? In any case, you could always choose manual partitioning, which will allow you to type in the exact size to which you want to decrease your Windows partition, rather than indicating it using the slider.

Also, in a worst case, you can always use wubi (http://wubi-installer.org/) to get around the partitioning.
