My system is a Dual Boot with WindowsXP/Ubuntu 8.10 (Recent Ubuntu update 11/05/2008)

I left my machine sitting for a while and the screen saver came on, so I decided I wanted to see what other effects were in there... Thus I opened it up and started scrolling through them and looking for the one I wanted and while I was watching the preview they were "Flickering" like crazy then all of the sudden It locked up Ubuntu and I couldn't do anything but turn the computer off... When I started again everything worked so I checked out the Screen saver panel again and Boom, I was again locked up...

Any ideas??? I'm a Linux N00b so go easy on me and I'd need a step by step solution... :)

Many thanks,

Keith

Nevermind, it seems to have cleared itself up and is working as it should...

If you're running compiz, that might explain it. It may interfere with certain things. Try turning it off with 'metacity --replace' in the terminal and see if that makes a difference. To turn compiz back on, 'compiz --replace'.
