I'm trying to upgrade from Ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10 using a CD I downloaded from ubuntu.com. When I run gksudo sh /cdrom/cdromupgrade, it gives me a list of packages it plans to remove, upgrade, install. My problem is that there are a good number of packages in the "remove" list that I definitely want: cups, my printer drivers, kppp, wine, xscreensaver....
It gave me a similar list (if not the same) when I tried doing it over the Internet. How can I get it to upgrade what it can and NOT REMOVE the stuff I want to keep?

On another subject, the program software-sources-gtk seems to be missing. If I try to start it from a terminal or the menu, nothing happens. "locate software-sources-gtk" returns nothing.
