Hello Everybody,

This is my first time here... But, i've already tried Hardy Heron on my desktop... I like it so much that, i have Ubuntu visual style for my XP...

Now, i want to install Ubuntu on my Laptop : Compaq Presario... I tried installing using Wubi... Installation went on without any problem... When i restarted, i got two boot options Windows and Ubuntu...

I chose Ubuntu... Ubuntu booted... But, desktop didn't appear... Just the Hardy Heron wallpaper was on the screen and my mouse pointer.. Nothing more... And nothing happened even after i waited for long...

What is causing this problem ? Is it safe for me to remove XP and install Ubuntu on this machine ? Or, should i do make any changes before doing so ?

Thank You...

Now, i tried with the Intrepid Ibex...
Wubi goes fine and it prompts me to reboot...

I rebooted and chose Ubuntu and then the Ibex wallpaper appears... Then after some 5 minutes, a window appears "Check the installation".

But, even after half an hour, it still remains in 0%....

What might be the problem ?

My laptop has 256 MB memory and some is allocated for something else... So, it shows as 248 MB... Is that the problem ?
