i always used geany but now i hear it's from scintilla same as scite... i read the features of them and they seems to be the same.
did anybody try both and can tell me what's the best for programming? or if another text editor is to prefer.
i actually program in python or c, the features i think are very useful are "search in files", "replace in files", "window tiling (like in ultraedit32 or microsoft word)", a search (popup) window that shows a list of all the found pattern in the current document (like ultraedit32 or the adobe reader advanced search), the files comparison...
every experience/preference is appreciated.

I don't know about Geany but personally I like Scite as a jack of all trades.
It's not very good for bigger projects, but it can color almost any programming language syntax (even INI files),
and it has the basic things a programmer's text editor could need, like automatic intendation and line-numbers.

But if you are programming in Python, then I'd recommended SPE, Stani's Python Editor.

It has EVERYTHING a python programmer could need:

Hiding some parts of code to make it more readable
TODO-list
python console
debugger
ability to graphically design GUI menus
interactive help
file-browser
search and replace
a lot more, haven't tested

I'm actually working on a scintilla based editor with wxPython. As a personal replacement for Geany which doesn't work well on Windows (not geany's fault, it's GTK's). On linux geany is the only editor I use for all languages since Ajunta IDE's interface was changed (for the worse). Geany has good integration with compilers and other features handy features.

Bluefish looks good, but I have only tried basic stuff on it. I haven't tried scite so I can't compare them

i think that geany is the best available, try it with the last version package from getdeb.net http://www.getdeb.net/app/Geany the only thing it lacks is a good comparison tool, but i found out meld http://meld.sourceforge.net/

I second Vim, or GVim if you don't like the terminal.

both geany and scite are something in between within vim and eclipse.
I use openkomodo (http://www.openkomodo.com/)

Thanks for the link to meld, didn't know about that one.

I'm using VIM for a long long time.

My vote goes for SciTE!

Check out my SciteProj project on sourceforge, giving project management features to SciTE.
