I'm currently running Hardy and am extremely happy with it. Everything runs great. I've been thinking about upgrading to Intrepid and would like to know if I will lose applications, ie movie player or various files MP3 or pdf files when doing so. What I'm concerned about is having to download a lot of libraries or files to restore functionality to an already great working system if I upgrade. Thank you.

If you do a upgrade you should not lose your data, but that said its always best to backup your important stuff. If you are happy with your setup with hardy then why not stick with it as it is a LTS release.
