I have been checking the posts and not found one quite addressing my problem.
I have installed a nVIDIA GeFORCE FX 5200 PCI 128MB DDR on a HP board, 466mh, also installed a 500w power supply. Tried installing hardy from CD, screen went black after the ubuntu startup screen. I removed the card- used the onboard video, installed ubuntu- work great but not graphics for what I want. Reinstalled the GeForce- sill the same problem. System boots, loads grub, ubuntu start up screen with the orange bar at the bottom, but goes blank and sits there when the login screen should appear. Tried ctrl-alt-F1.... nothing.Any ideas?
