View Full Version : [ubuntu] Dual Monitor Resolutions

hi there im new to ubuntu and im trying to get a dual monitor set up,

so far ive managed to get 2 X window displays that are independant of each other

i have 2 monitors both connected via nvidia 8800gt

1. Acer 22" 1680 x 1050 - this one works fine at its correct res.
2. Samsung HDTV 1366x768 - Nvidia Settings wont let me choose any res. above 640x480! its driving me insane! here is my xorg.conf

^^ ive tried editing it directly, changing the

"Option "metamodes" "CRT: 640x480_60 +0+0"

to

Option "metamodes" "CRT: 1366x768_60 +0+0"

but once i save it and reboot, the resolutions are the same but the file remains edited at 1366x768!

can anybody help? thanks guys!

Try using this:
http://xtiming.sourceforge.net/

It will compute for you an appropriate Modeline that you can insert in your xorg.conf that could set your monitor to the desired resolution.

you'll need to know for sure what your monitor's specs are though
