I have checked the forums & followed the step by step procedure suggested by Fanfan.
My first attempt was to set uo Evolution mail. I got to the point where I think I sent 13 test mails but have not received any.
Next I tried Hotmail but again was unsuccessful.
I am using the Firefox browser & so, I attempted to download the Thunderbird email. I received version 2.0.0.17 but I am unable to access it. It is downloaded to my desktop but when I attempt to open it or "extract here", I get menus that do not make any sense to me. I did find an "icons" reference & when I clicked on it, the Thunderbird icon was inserted right across the lower panel (26 icons). I do not want to risk deleting the panel because the panel includes access to Applications Places System Etc.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
I have just got my Ubuntu screen back after 45 days & I don't want to risk losing any info.
