I see some big differences on the server side with the new 8.10, but what significant changes were made on the desktop side?

I read the page on the website but it was kind of the same old stuff with the exception of wifi and 3g.

Not that I am complaining. I love ubuntu. But just curious.

Ubuntu 8.10 supposedly has better support for 3G and wifi networks, includes GNOME 2.24 (or kubuntu integrates the KDE 4 series for the first time), and there is a handy user switcher system which integrates with empathy/pidgin instant messengers.

In addition 8.10 supports a new "guest session" mode, which allows you to enable a guest to use your computer restrictedly, and can be accessed from that top right menu as I previously mentioned.

Personally, my laptop sucks, and since the b43 driver tends to lockup my system, i don't see much improvement over 8.04, but i i know that the structure and kernel are obviously more secure.

Thanks. I didn't think there were any major changes. I wish that they would make the global search feature better. I think it is tracker. Mine never seems to work right.

I am going to upgrade this weekend.

I have been using feisty on my Dell inspiron laptop. Most of the time it works great. The only problem I really ever have is the wirless adapter is a broadcom and it doesn't seem to work as good as when the laptop runs windows. Other than that. Ubuntu is great. :-) (http://www.weblearners.com/time-management-training.html)
