Hey guys, I am trying to get a gauge of how many of us are in Rockland Co. This is so we can try and get some local events/meetups going.

I am in New City.

Not that far from Rockland, but I'm worried that those plates on the bridge will screw up my car.

Hey Benny, the Bronx isn't that far off. I just moved to the Rock from SI, NY

I'm from the bronx here, but I go to a high school in Rockland. :) (because it's awesome).

Ubuntu meetings would be awesome (I have converted a few people to Ubuntu in my school).

I actually have a trial scheduled for early December in Clarkstown. I believe that is New City, no?

When you get something scheduled make sure you let me know so I can add it to our sticky posts... we also need to let ausimage know so the team page and wiki can be updated.

Way to get the ball rolling guys!!

Where in Rockland are you going to HS? (If you don't mind my asking?) Just trying to get an idea of where we should try and get a meetup going.

Mind if I make a sticky with those links included -- giving you credit for them?

Nice! I originally sent those links in a private message to NewJack. It would be great if they are put on a sticky along with anything else you can find.

That is what I am trying to do. Get Rocklanders to speak up and be counted. Manhattan may not be convenient for some members of the LoCo. I have an idea that I have to just smooth out, but overall I would like to get meetups/Ubuntu community events rolling, make us more active.

Thanks for posting those links daradib.

P.S.- If anyone is around tonight around 7:00 pm, try and jump into the IRC- #ubuntu-us-ny

I'll try to be there at 7 tonight, but right now I'm already there so feel free to say a hello.

Come on people, there has to be more than this. I would really like to get something going soon.

Sorry for not replying, the thread email notification wasn't updated because I didn't visit the page. I go to Green Meadow Waldorf School in Chestnut Ridge.

I am quite busy in school (senior year) but might be able to fit in a meetup.

FYI I will be away Tuesday through Thursday of this week (I'll probably miss the Team meeting as well). I probably wouldn't want a local in-person meeting on the weekdays anyways (preferably I would like meetings to occur sometime between Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon or during holidays).

I guess with school, those would be better times. It seems as though most people who responded here are in school, so I will try to get a spot for sometime on a weekend. I'll give at least 2 weeks notice so everyone has a chance to try and make it. The latest it will be, will be the first weekend of December. This way it won't interfere with weekend holiday plans for that month.

OK, great. Let's give a chance for more people from Rockland to see this forum post. (crosses fingers)

Decided to change this to a Lower Hudson Valley check in. This way White Plains, Westchester and even Yonkers will be incorporated. All replies welcome.

Fridays after 3 I'm usually quite free, however I don't have a car. As for the weekends, my sister has basketball practice at my school so maybe the parent that drives her there could drive me to a meeting place...? I'm not really sure the details of the basketball practice though.

edit: argh! bad grammar with "friday's" ;)
