I just heard about this today. Apperently Ubuntu is the free version..

mpi Linux is a South African (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Africa) Linux distribution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_distribution) based on Ubuntu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu), which focuses on the enterprise and government sector.
The project name originally referred to Impi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impi) meaning warrior in the Zulu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zulu) language.
In September 2005, Mark Shuttleworth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Shuttleworth) invested R (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_African_rand)10 million in return for 65% of Impi Linux

This has been around for awhile.

Ubuntu is basically like how OpenSUSE is the development version of SUSE. Only, it's not. Ubuntu serves as a testing platform where packages are then scrutinized for Impi Linux. Remember, this is for Government and Enterprise sectors.

Oh, and it's support.

And their server runs Microsoft Server 2003 w/ IIS 6
