I havea small problem with my laptop, as in the dvd drive is more or less dead, if i try to boot from dvd drive it will work maybe once every 20 times, even then i just get to the ubuntu live cd menu (as in try ubuntu, install, check cd etc etc).

I know this is an issue with the reader and not the disk as it has been doing this for a while with all disks (although not this bad) and the disk im using was used to install ubuntu to my desktop.

i was just wondering is there a way i can transfer all the required files to a usb flash drive, make it bootable then use that tpo install ubuntu to my laptop.

this is the only thing left to try before ripping out the dvd rom from my desktop and tearing apart my externel HDD (again)

cheers
