I believe what you want to do is remove the partition that has Ubuntu on it, repartition, format, and then install XP.

From: http://www.elonexsupport.com/webbook/webbookusermanual.pdf

Software
Your webbook comes with the operating system preinstalled. This is either
Linux or Windows XP depending on which model you’ve chosen. It is, however,
possible to upgrade the operating system from Linux to Windows XP along with
a new larger hard drive. Please see in-store for details or call customer services
on 0870 087 0168.
We recommend that you do not install Windows XP if you have less than 4GB of
storage on your webbook. You can find webbook drivers on the CD that
accompanies your XP upgrade/in this pack if you already have Windows XP. You
will need these drivers if your change or re-install your operating system.

no point. Just was not sure you had checked manual. It's usually the last place I look. Does seem odd that its not showing the bios.

You could try booting to a usb stick with grub and having it point at the drive.
