Hello,

i just installed kubuntu 8.10 on a rather old machine with a matrox mga200. AMD duron 750, slightly more than 1Gb Mem, brand new Western Digital 80Gb HD. Fujitsu Siemens 19" TFT.
After toying around with the themes, the screen turned all white.
clicking around and hitting some keys makes it turn black.
Cursor is still visible an functional.
Same behaviour at reboot.
tried resetting xorg.conf => same prob...
switching to Ctrl-Alt-F1 (or sthg similar got me some error message:

(EE) MGA(0): Static buffer allocation failed, not initializing the DRI ( EE) MGA(0): Need at least 11527 kB video memory at this resolution
Is there any way to reset this to the default theme (oxygen, i think it is called). I hope that will do, because after the standard install, all worked well...

Sorry guys, i am noob, i just know how to spell Linux, i used a Suse 9.x for several years. (User, just using, not knowing what i was doing...) now my HD died, got a new one, tried kubuntu, worked fine, started customizing -> all wrecked.
I don't know what information you need, but just ask, i will try to help you helping me ;-)
