In 8.04 on ubuntu I always used "adept-manager" to manage my installed software which I think is the kubuntu manager. Since upgrading to 8.10 I notice that the software I am used to using has had a design update and I really do not care for it. To be honest I'm not a fan of the ubuntu version either.

What are all of my options for GUI package managers?

Thanks in advance

You could try using packagekit
http://www.packagekit.org/
It is available from the ubuntu repos.

Looks good. Just out of interest, when it is installed will it replace the ugggglllyyy new adept, or will both run on the machine? Can we actually remove adept without causing problems???

Cheers.

You can run either one, I am not sure about the effects of removing adept
