Would anyone like to contribute to a monthly news letter for the NY Loco?
Forum admins - if I coordinated the production of a monthly news letter for NY how would I got about getting it pinned for a month?

Ask either your LoCo mod to pin it in here, or I suppose you could report the post to get Staff attention and we could do it

I would be interested, but that will depend on me having enough time and what exactly I would write. Let me know your plans and how you want to do them (e.g. exactly what to write, how to organize, submission process, software used, etc.).

Where are you located?
One part of the newsletter would be to go over local events across the state -- so I would need Albany, Rochester, Syracuse, Long Island, NYC, Souther Tier and North Country folks if possible.
The other part would be covering hardware or other events that might interest people in the Loco.
Do you have any subjects you would enjoy covering?

Unfortunately, I know of no local events located closer than NYC itself. I would like to cover local events, but I think I need local events in the first place to be able to cover them. If you know of any, please let me know.

Now that's something I could do, but I'll admit I'm more of a follower, so I would hope to see some other contributors as well.

Well my avatar is a gnu, so I could cover free software news. But I could cover anything if need by, as long as there's enough outside interest and I have enough time.

If I remember right, you live by me in Rockland. I am trying to get interest going for a "local" meetup. Check the thread I posted here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=970119 and just drop a post to check in. If I get enough interest (I hope), we'll get something going.
@PrivateVoid, as per our conversation last night, I am down with helping out with a Newsletter.

I will be working on the newsletter concept over the next two days. When I get the detail worked out I will post them here and to the mailing list.
I am still looking for more people to contribute.
Thanks

Okay, I'll be waiting to see what you come up with.
I would recommend following the style of the Ubuntu Weekly Newsletter (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuWeeklyNewsletter), except release monthly instead of weekly and write about stuff that pertains to our LoCo audience.

The general idea for a news letter is to announce things that have been done by the team, inform the team about things that are happning nationally / internationally, highlight events going on in the world of computers, highlight new programs, and/or have tips about how to use Ubuntu.
We will have a meeting in IRC on 11-20 at 8pm to discuss more specifics. The newsletter wou;d be monthly at this point

Sorry, I won't be able to attend. I'm away ~20th-23rd of November. I'll check the IRC log when I'm back though.
