I installed 8.10 but it is hopelessly broken in wireless connectivity. I have read forum after forum after forum entry about problems with the Broadcom 4306 and how to correct it. NONE WORK!

This has been a thorn in my side every update. I really don't know why this has to be such a bitch of an issue every update?

ANyway, how can I go back to 8.04? I have a CD but I'm afraid that installation with wipe out all that is on the disk. Is there an upgrade to 8.04 procedure?

You would have to do a clean install of 8.04. There is no roll back option. Is your /home folder on its own partition?

There is a Howto page over at the Ubuntu help (https://help.ubuntu.com) site here (http://help.ubuntu.com/community/DowngradeHowto), but it's hardly encouraging. I'd like to roll back 8.10 on my Fujitsu P7120 to get the 2200BG wireless working properly again, but am not sure I want to risk it. Has anyone tried these instructions?

This doesn't help. The older kernels are gone, and I'm looking for a way to "downgrade" back to 8.04 without having to do a clean install.

I really advice to just do a new clean install. Yep it is a bit tedious, but at least its clean and trouble free. I did the same and my machine is working like a charm on Ubuntu 8.04
