Help! I'm a new user of Ubuntu and I recently tried to upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10. Every time it seems there's some glitch. The first times I followed the instructions on the website and tried to redownload and reburn the iso file thinking that there might be a problem there. I burned it using a slower speed, and have tried to use the version for 64 bit. I am using an AMD Athlon 64 processor.
Now when I try to start Ubuntu, (Without the disk loaded) the splash screen stops on checking the installation. I am running a dual boot of Ubuntu and Win XP. Also on my c drive I see two folders for Ubuntu. One of them says Ubuntu.old.
Can someone help me?
