I have a python program I wrote, I would like to properly set it up to a static tar.gz package, I have no idea how to do this. Any easy tutorials?

Also I would like to release a .deb of my software.

Any help?

Here is a tutorial on how to make .deb packages: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PackagingGuide/Basic
It also shows the command for making .tar.gz packages. Search for "tar czf".

For a basic outline of the procedure see

A description of an easy way to package a python app as a deb for personal use is available here:
