Hello!

After update from 8.04 to 8.10 RC the items in the menu Places are opened with vlc. Where the correct application/settings can be set up?

All updates are installed.

I had the same issue. See: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/260492

I am not pleased with this update. It broke a lot. Flash got worse and the new theme sucks(not that I would have used it anyways...). Seriously thinking of switching to gentoo or freebsd.
